Forecast calls for cold air, chance of snow

Carroll County is expected to see winter precipitation and wind chill values below zero over the next several days, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain and snow are likely on the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 9, the NWS says, with a chance of snow in the afternoon and a possible accumulation of up to an inch. Tuesday’s high temperatures are expected ot be in the mid-30s, the forecast says, with winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph. The chance of precipitation on Tuesday is 70 percent.

Temperatures are expected to be warmer on Wednesday and Thursday, with sunny conditions and highs in the upper 40s on Wednesday and the lower 50s on Thursday.

Colder air will return Thursday night, with lows in the upper 20s and a 50 percent chance of precipitation, including a chance of snow after midnight.

Friday’s forecast calls for a chance of rain in the morning with highs around 40 before falling into the lower 30s in the afternoon and bringing a chance of snow. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent. Temperatures are expected to drop Friday night, with lows from 10 to 15 degrees and wind chill values as low as five below zero.

Saturday is expected to see highs around 30, with lows around 10 degrees on Saturday night. Wind chill values could remain as low as five degrees below zero.

Sunday’s high temperatures are expected to be in the upper 20s, with wind chill values remaining below zero Sunday morning.
