Flag Retirement

Posted

Representatives of American Legion Post 9 met Wednesday, Oct. 23, with the Berryville Lions Club to receive about six dozen worn and damaged American flags for disposal with an appropriate flag retirement ceremony. Pictured from left to right are American Legion Post 9 commander Tom Mischo and Lions Club members Lyman Squires and Tyler Squires. The Berryville Lions Club’s main fundraiser is displaying American flags on appropriate holidays. For a donation of $30 a year, you can have a flag displayed in front of your business or on the square as a memorial. Proceeds go to provide local eyecare, a scholarship, support for Arkansas Enterprises for the Blind and Midsouth Lions providing cataract and medical eyecare. (Scott Loftis / Carroll County News)
