Exciting things happening at Berryville schools

Welcome to the Bobcat Buzz! Berryville Public Schools is pleased to announce that we will have an article right here each month where we will share important upcoming events, information, and celebrations that are going on in our schools. This is one more way that we can provide ongoing communication with our families and community. Thank you to the Carroll County News for partnering with us to make this happen!

Join us at the Performing Arts Center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) showcase. Berryville High School was selected by the state department of education to highlight the various CTE programs that are offered for students. During this time, our teachers, students and C4 facility director will be on hand to share information. Can’t make it during the day? Don’t worry. We will record the event and share it with the public the following week. Be looking for the video link on social media and our website.

If you haven’t participated in the community survey that was posted on the website and social media outlets, please take a few minutes to do that this week. The district is working on a grant to fund an after-school program, The Bobcat Academy, for students in grades K-5, beginning Oct. 1, 2023. If the grant is received, students will have after-hours tutoring, additional field trips, hands-on activities, music and art extensions, and social/ emotional support. This is a phenomenal opportunity for students and families!

We celebrated our school counselors last week during Counselor Appreciation Week. Our counselors work very hard for our students and families each day. From being a listening ear, to helping seniors complete scholarships for college, counselors play many roles in our students’ lives and we have some of the best in Berryville. Thank you, counselors, for all you do!

Congratulations to the junior Lady Bobcats and coaches for bringing home the hardware last Saturday night! The squad was runner-up in the district tournament following a hard fought battle against Shiloh Christian. The team was also runner-up in the conference this season. The senior basketball teams will also be in tournament action this week right here in Berryville at the Bobcat Arena. The district is hosting the tournament this year so come out and support the Bobcats and Lady Bobcats! Play begins Tuesday night.

Thank you for reading the first edition of The Bobcat Buzz! Next month we will be highlighting some of our students and the awesome things they are accomplishing. Stay tuned!
