Events planned to honor vets

Carroll County will honor its veterans with several events on Friday, Nov. 11.

Berryville Intermediate School’s fourth-grade students will present a Veterans Day Program at 9 a.m. in the Intermediate Cafeteria.

All veterans are invited to attend as the students celebrate them and give thanks for their service to our country. Berryville School District superintendent Owen Powell will be the program’s special speaker.

The Green Forest High School Student Council invites the community to its annual Veterans Day Assembly at 10 a.m. at the Grim Gym.

The assembly will include a special address by a local veteran and a musical tribute by the school’s choir and band programs. Immediately afterward, all veterans and their guests are invited to attend a thank-you lunch provided by Anstaff Bank of Green Forest.

Berryville High School will celebrate veterans by honoring them in an assembly at 11 a.m. in the Bobcat Gym. All veterans and their families are invited to a special lunch being prepared and served by the school’s Food Production students after the assembly.

American Legion Post 9 will sponsor the Veterans Day Parade, with a ceremony to follow at the Cat House parking lot in Eureka Springs, which will include a rifle volley and taps at 11:11 a.m.

Lineup for parade participants starts at 9 a.m. in front of the Eureka Springs library on Spring Street with the parade starting at 10 a.m. All veterans and their families are invited to be in the parade. Groups associated with veterans support are also invited to participate.

The parade will travel down Spring Street and end at the Cat House parking lot. A musical program will precede military honors at 11:11 a.m. A meet and greet at the Cat House will follow Honors.

The Ozark Highlander Pipe Band, the Eureka Springs High School Band, the ES Chorus and 7/8 Chorus and Sharon Parker will provide musical honors.
