Carroll County News

Several events are planned across Carroll County in observance of Veterans Day.

Equity Bank in Berryville and veterans support organization Recon VI will hold their quarterly veterans recognition event at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, in the bank lobby. Several Carroll County veterans will be honored and lunch will be served.

A Veterans Parade will be held beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday in downtown Eureka Springs. The parade is a combined effort of American Legion Post 9 in Eureka Springs and Post 172 in Berryville, along with Berryville VFW Post No. 7518 and Recon VI. Carroll County schools also will honor veterans with several activities:

BERRYVILLE SCHOOLS

All campuses of the Berryville School District will hold separate assemblies to recognize Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Assemblies will be held at the middle school campus cafeteria at 8:15 a.m., at the elementary campus cafeteria at 8:30 a.m., at the intermediate campus cafeteria at 9:15 a.m. and at Bobcat Gym (old gym) at the high school beginning at 10:45 a.m.

Veterans and members of the community are invited to attend the events where students and staff will give presentations. Each veteran in attendance at each assembly will also be recognized.

GREEN FOREST SCHOOLS

The Green Forest High School student council will host its annual Veterans Day Assembly at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Grim Gym.

The assembly will include a special address by a local veteran, along with a musical tribute by the school’s choir and band programs.

Immediately after the assembly, all veterans and their guests are invited to attend a thank you lunch provided by Anstaff Bank of Green Forest.

Individuals are encouraged to email photos of veterans to Emma Gilstrap at egilstrap@gf.k12.ar.us, and include the name, rank and service.

EUREKA SPRINGS SCHOOLS

Eureka Springs School District will hold its annual Veterans Day breakfast, sponsored by the high school’s FFA program, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the high school cafeteria.

All area veterans are encouraged to attend the breakfast, where FFA students will be serving Blue and Gold brand sausage and bacon, along with eggs and pancakes.
