Equity Bank honors Carroll County veterans

Posted

Equity Bank in Berryville hosted its first-ever awards ceremony last week thanking Carroll County veterans for their military service.

The local bank branch presented plaques of appreciation and gifts to the veterans, recognizing their military service. The ceremony was held in the bank lobby, and members of the public attended.

The veterans honored during the ceremony were:

• U.S. Army veteran Eric Griesenauer of Berryville; • U.S. Marine Corps veteran Robert Fairweather of Oak Grove;

• and U.S. Army veteran Jose Galindo of Holiday Island.

Two veterans were honored, but were unable to attend last week’s ceremony. They are:

• U.S. Army veteran Edward Hitchcock of Berryville;

• and U.S. Air Force veteran Jack Sams of Berryville.

The bank announced their awards and gifts would be delivered in person after the ceremony.

Craig Kesner, market president of Equity Bank in Berryville, explained the purpose of the special event, emphasizing that the bank recognizes and appreciates the sacrifices made by all veterans and that this event was a way to show their gratitude.

The ceremony also included comments by Vince Eastwood, president of RECON-VI, a veterans support organization that assisted the bank in arranging the ceremony. Attendees listened as Eastwood spoke about the importance of honoring veterans and their contributions to society. His words were met with applause from those in attendance.

This event is just the beginning of Equity Bank’s efforts to honor veterans, according to Kesner.

“Here at Equity Bank we know that it’s very important that we recognize the service and sacrifice of those who have served in the armed forces,” he said. “What we’re doing here today is the first of what we hope will be a long-standing tradition of recognizing the men and women who have given so much to help not only Carroll County, but our country.”

Eastwood, a combat veteran, shared his thoughts after the ceremony.

“To see the community come together and reach out to thank these veterans for their service, it means the world to me,” he said. “It seems to me that we’re in a great community that appreciates the sacrifices our veterans have made to protect our country.”
