Dorothy Earlene Moore, a cherished artist, musician, and beloved family matriarch, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024, at the age of 92, in Springdale, Arkansas at The Circle of Life Hospice House. Born on March 2, 1932, in Berryville, Arkansas, to parents Lionel and Jo (Franklin) Scarrow.

Dorothy’s early years in Berryville were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family, and she carried that sense of togetherness throughout her life. She was the treasured sister to Roy Scarrow (wife Linda), Bobby Scarrow (wife Freda), and brothers and sister proceeded in death, Johnny Scarrow (wife Geneva), James Scarrow (wife Mary Ann), and Betty (Scarrow) Ambrose (husband Carl). Her brothers and sister, alongside their families, played an integral role in Dorothy’s life, providing a foundation of support and joy.

The journey of love and companionship was a significant part of Dorothy’s life. She was the loving wife of the late Albert Donel McCalister, Vernon Wolfinbarger, and Merle Moore, each marriage blessing her with cherished memories and lessons of life. Her role as a mother was one she held most dear, raising her children, Mike McCalister, Patricia Taylor, Alan McCalister (wife Lori), and Earl McCalister.

Dorothy’s legacy extends to her adored grandchildren, Rebecca, Heath, Rachael, David M., Ben, David P., Lisa, and Chris, who were the recipients of her endless affection and support. Her family continued to grow with the addition of 22 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to Dorothy’s life. Although she felt the sting of loss with the passing of her granddaughters Crystal, Brandi and Nancy McCalister, her love for her family never wavered. She was loved by a multitude of nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and cherished friends. She often would say, “I love you a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck”.

Throughout her life, Dorothy was an active member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church, where she played piano and praised the Lord. Her faith and fellowship provided comfort and a sense of community. As a skilled musician, Dorothy shared her passion for music by giving piano lessons for several years, touching the lives of many aspiring musicians with her patience and expertise. She was a local artist and loved painting beautiful scenery and animals, the red cardinal amongst one of her favorites. She had a different colored thumb for each season, whether brown from dirt in her garden, purple from blackberries, green from walnuts, flour white from cooking or a mix of every color of the rainbow from painting. She loved life and lived it to the fullest, loving her family and friends, and most of all the Lord.
