Digby Brooke West, age 87, of Berryville, Arkansas, passed away on September 16, 2025. Born on April 23, 1938, in Berryville, Arkansas, he led a fulfilling life marked by a distinguished career and a passion for the outdoors.
Brooke graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and was a licensed Professional Engineer. He embarked on a successful career in the oil and gas industry, initially working for Gulf Oil before retiring from Chevron. His professional life was characterized by dedication and a deep understanding of his field.
A devout member of the First Christian Church in Berryville, Arkansas, Brooke was deeply involved in his community and faith. His hobbies reflected his love for adventure and the natural world. He was a hunter and fisherman, enjoyed canoeing and hiking, and had a passion for traveling.
Brooke is survived by his loving wife, Linda West, and their children, Digby Keith West (Mindy) of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Heather Brooke Nunn (Randy) of Fayetteville, Arkansas. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Dr. Brooke Elizabeth Nunn, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; his sisters, Louise Rusterholz (Don) of Berryville, Arkansas, and Ginger Jefferies (Hardie) of Fort Smith, Arkansas; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Brooke West and Osie Winifred Gensman West, and his brothers, Robert and Fred West.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Brooke’s memory can be made to the Loaves and Fishes Food Bank of the Ozarks, PO Box 149, Berryville, AR 72616, a cause close to his heart. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 26th at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Berryville, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
