4-H is the premier youth development program conducted by the University of Arkansas System, Division of Agriculture, Cooperative Extension Service. Pictured above is one of the 4-H Clubs offered in Carroll County, The North Polo Pioneer Club. They have partnered with Equity Bank to help the Good Shepherd Humane Society with donations and interacting with the animals. This is only one of the few community service projects that the North Polo Pioneer Club is a part of. Pictured are Kaitlyn Warner of Equity Bank (who herself was a long time 4-H member) along with her mother, Glenda Warner, the leader of the club, and its current members. Equity Bank donated more than $200 for this cause, Glenda Warner said. 4-H Clubs emphasize the four H’s — Head, Heart, Hands and Health. The core elements of 4-H include youth leadership, youth-adult partnerships, life skills learning and community service. 4-H members complete hands-on projects in areas like science, health, agriculture, and citizenship in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Contact the Carroll County Extension Office at 870-423-2958 for more information if you have a child interested in participating in 4-H. (Submitted photo)
