In preparation for their fall book sale, the Friends of the Eureka Springs Carnegie Library are asking for donations of gently used books. Donations can be brought to the library annex media center during library operating hours. Film series begins
The Eureka Springs Carnegie Library’s annual documentary film screening series begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4 in the Library Annex meeting room at 192 Spring Street. The first documentary shown, “Room 237” analyzes Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of “The Shining,” and the people who believe they have succeeded in decoding the iconic film’s hidden messages and symbols. ‘Scouting for Food’
Local Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and other organization are gearing up for the annual food drive, “Scouting for Food.”
Beginning Saturday, Nov. 5 and continuing the following week, scouts will be placing bags on area doorknobs. Then, on Saturday, Nov. 12, the scouts will be collecting the bags. Those who want to participate can place donations of canned goods out on their front porch by 9 a.m. on Nov. 12.
All donations will be delivered to the Flint Street Fellowship for those who need it in Eureka Springs.

Holiday remembrances
Those who have lost a loved one, no matter how long ago, are invited to a special session called “Surviving the holidays,” from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6 in the fellowship hall of First Christian Church, 763 Passion Play Road in Eureka Springs.

Veterans Day Assembly
The Green Forest High School Student Council cordially invites the community to its annual Veterans Day Assembly at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at the Grim Gym.
The assembly will include a special address by a local veteran and a musical tribute by the school’s choir and band programs. Immediately afterward, all veterans and their guests are invited to attend a thank-you lunch provided by Anstaff Bank of Green Forest.

Veterans Day Parade
American Legion Post 9 will sponsor the Veterans Day Parade on Friday, Nov. 11, with a ceremony to follow at the Cat House parking lot in Eureka Springs, which will include a rifle volley and taps at 11:11 a.m.
Lineup for parade participants starts at 9 a.m. in front of the Eureka Springs library on Spring Street with the parade starting at 10 a.m. All veterans and their families are invited to be in the parade. Groups associated with veterans support are also invited to participate.
The parade will travel down Spring Street and end at the Cat House parking lot. A musical program will precede military honors at 11:11 a.m. A meet and greet at the Cat House will follow Honors.
The Ozark Highlander Pipe Band, the Eureka Springs High School Band, the ES Chorus and 7/8 Chorus and Sharon Parker will provide musical honors.
