Library seeking books
In preparation for its fall book sale, the Friends of the Eureka Springs Carnegie Library is asking for people to donate their gently used books.
Donations can be brought to the library annex media center during library operating hours.

Meet the candidates
The Greater Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce will present the Eureka Springs Meet the Candidates Forum at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Inn of the Ozarks Convention Center.
All candidates running for mayor, city council and other local offices have been invited and everyone is welcome to attend the nonpartisan events. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for an informal meet and greet before the event.
There will also be meet and greet time from 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call the chamber office at 479253-8737.

Mad Hatter Ball returns
The Eureka Springs School of the Arts has announced that the 20th anniversary celebration of the Mad Hatter Ball will be held at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Sptings on Oct. 21.
The event returns to an in-person ball and will be once again held in the Crystal Ballroom after two years of virtual- only events. Tickets for this event are very limited.

Living Forest event
Hobbs State Park–Conservation Area will host a “Living Forest” event from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. The event, ideal for children ages 4 to 7, is free and will include crafts, activities, and a guided hike. Visitors are encouraged to wear costumes.
Guests must check in at the visitor center no later than 3 p.m. They will receive an animal stamp and can participate in a variety of crafts and activities while waiting for the guided hike to begin. The hike will travel along the paved 0.25mile Ozark Plateau Trail. Costumed volunteers, dressed as woodland animals, will meet hikers along the trail and share details about the animal they are portraying and its importance to the forest. Following the hike, participants can stop at the pavilion and enjoy apple cider and s’mores refreshments.
The hike and activities should take no longer than 90 minutes. Groups of no more than 15 will leave the visitor center approximately every 10 minutes. COVID-19 safety guidelines are in effect for guests and staff; space may be limited. In the event of rain, activities will be moved indoors.
Princess Ball
The Berryville Rotary Club is hosting the Princess Ball, a daddy-daughter dance on Oct. 22. The event has more than 40 sponsors and will include, snacks, ice cream, dancing and fun. Moms and grandparents are welcome as well. Proceeds will benefit the Berryville library building project.

Veterans Day assembly
The Green Forest High School Student Council cordially invites the community to their annual Veterans Day Assembly in the Grim Gym at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 11.
The assembly will include a special address by a local veteran and a musical tribute by the school’s choir and band programs.
Immediately afterwards, all veterans and their guests are invited to attend a thankyou lunch provided by Anstaff Bank of Green Forest.

Table Rock meeting
Neighbors and Friends of Table Rock Lake will meet on Monday, Nov. 14, at Our Lady of the Cove Catholic Church Hall, 20 Kimberling Blvd, Kimberling City, Mo.
The program will be presented by Vannetta Groteske with Fish Tales, author of “Thanks for Taking Me Fishing.” A meal will be available for a fee. Contact reservations@ nftrl.com before Nov. 4 to register or with questions.
Neighbors and Friends of Table Rock Lake (NFTRL) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to foster friendship among its members and assist in their introduction into community, social, civic, and educational causes, and to undertake and promote charitable and humanitarian projects within the community.
