First priority will be given to organizations providing a public service, such as rural fire departments, schools, churches, hospital auxiliaries and services for senior citizens or veterans. Submissions should be timely. Calendar listings should not be more than 30 days in advance of the event. The calendar is sometimes edited to fit the available space in the print edition. Yarn Lovers Club

Yarn Lovers Club at the Green Forest Public Library takes place at 5 p.m. each Monday for those interested in knitting, crocheting, weaving, spinning, etc., (Anything with yarn!)

Get Fit Club

JoAnn at the Green Forest Library will host a Get Fit Club at 6 p.m. each Thursday. This easy stretching class helps adults of all ages and mobility stretch and get slightly more in shape.

Library seeking books

In preparation for its fall book sale, the Friends of the Eureka Springs Carnegie Library is asking for people to donate their gently used books. Donations can be brought to the library annex media center during library operating hours. The library cannot guarantee that a staff member will be available to help unload books so please plan accordingly. For more information, please call 479-253-8754 or email carnegieannex@ gmail.com.

Bobcat Invitational

The Berryville High School band will host the send annual Bobcat Invitational Marching Competition at Bobcat Stadium on Tuesday, Oct 11.

The competition will start at 5:15 p.m. Tickets are $5 and concessions will be available.

Bands from across the region will be competing, including Green Forest, Elkins, Greenland, Huntsville, Harrison, Farmington and Berryville.

The public is invited to attend and support area high school marching bands as they prepare for their regional marching assessments in the weeks ahead.

Bands will play their halftime show for a panel of three judges and will be awarded divisional ratings, as well as outstanding awards in various categories.

OCT. 15

Pancake breakfast

Basin Spring Lodge No. 386 Free and Accepted Masons will hold a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the corner of Harvey and Tower streets in Eureka Springs.

A full breakfast will be served. Tickets are $6 each and proceeds will benefit the Smead Walden Memorial Scholarship Fund for Eureka Springs students.

Mad Hatter Ball returns

The Eureka Springs School of the Arts has announced that the 20th anniversary celebration of the Mad Hatter Ball will be held at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Sptings on Oct. 21.

The event returns to an in-person ball and will be once again held in the Crystal Ballroom after two years of virtual- only events. Tickets for this event are very limited.

Princess Ball

The Berryville Rotary Club is hosting the Princess Ball, a daddy-daughter dance on Oct. 22. The event has more than 40 sponsors and will include, snacks, ice cream, dancing and fun. Moms and grandparents are welcome as well. Proceeds will benefit the Berryville library building project.
