Car fire causes backup

Posted

Firefighters from the Green Forest Fire Department work to put out a car fire in the east-bound lane of U.S. 62 in front of Hatman’s 1-Stop in Green Forest on Thursday, Oct. 13. According to reports, the man driving the car had recently had it serviced and was driving along when he noticed the engine beginning to smoke. He was able to exit the vehicle before it burst into flames. The fire, which was reported at approximately 11:34 a.m., blocked traffic in both lanes for more than an hour as emergency services personnel worked to clear the scene. Once the fire was out, the vehicle was towed from the scene by Natural State Towing. Responding agencies also included the Arkansas State Police, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Green Forest Police Department, and members of the Mennonite Disaster Services Search and Rescue Team.
