Berryville city employees will be receiving pay increases after the Berryville City Council voted at its regular meeting Tuesday, June 3, to approve step raises.
Mayor Tim McKinney said city employees have a seven-step pay scale.
“We do an annual evaluation every year, and if you get a good evaluation, then you get your step raise,” McKinney said.
McKinney said all city employees who were eligible for a step raise were approved to receive a pay increase, with two employees approved to received twostep increases.
Also at the June 3 meeting, the council approved the second and third readings of an ordinance amending the city’s 2024 budget — a common “cleanup” procedure to reconcile accounts.
The council also approved a resolution declaring a house at 327 Pritchard St. a nuisance.
McKinney said the city would contact the owner of the property and try to work with the owner to have the property cleaned up. He said the house was badly damaged in a fire and is not covered by insurance.
Council member Linda Riddlesperger presented the monthly report from Saunders Museum, which showed total deposits for May 2025 were $1,192, up from $893 in May 2024. The bulk of that increase came from merchandise sales, which rose from $168 in May 2024 to $424.50 in May 2025.
