Carroll County residents will get a chance to clean up for fall thanks to a special grant-in-aid from the Carroll County Quorum Court.
The Carroll County Solid Waste District will be offering a special bulky waste collection event in October that will allow county residents to dispose of old, unsightly and broken furniture and other items between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Carroll County Fairgrounds in Berryville.
The free collection event — which is for Carroll County residents only — is part of the Keep Arkansas Beautiful program’s “Great Arkansas Cleanup.”
County residents may dispose of up to three items including old furniture; mattresses and box springs; sinks; toilets; and bathtubs.
Also accepted will be up to three electronic items including TVs, computers and microwaves.
There is no limit on scrap or metal items including water heaters, stoves, washers, dryers, grills, and other appliances. If necessary, freon will be removed from appliances free of charge.
Items that will not be accepted include tires; yard waste such as limbs, leaves, and grass clippings; hazardous waste, household garbage; commercial and agricultural waste; and construction and remodeling waste.
Out-of-county waste of any kind will not be accepted.
County residents are encouraged to spread out on the county roads and gather roadside litter to bring to this collection event and to help neighbors with removing unwanted items from yards and homes.
Volunteers are needed. For more information may call Gary Gray at Carroll County Solid Waste at 479253-2727 or 870-423-7156.
