Boston Mountain Rural Health Center (BMRHC) marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 30th anniversary of providing comprehensive healthcare services to the rural communities of Northwest and North Central Arkansas.
Founded in 1994, BMRHC has grown from a single clinic to a network of 17 health centers dedicated to ensuring access to quality healthcare and dental services for all, regardless of their ability to pay.
The anniversary celebration at the Marshall headquarters brought together healthcare professionals and their families to celebrate this outstanding achievement.
Debbie Ackerson, BMRHC’s chief executive officer, addressed the crowd, highlighting the center’s accomplishments and impact on the community over the past three decades.
“What began as a small clinic with a mission to serve the underserved has blossomed into a vital healthcare network,” Ackerson said.”We are proud of our growth and the difference we have made in countless lives. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to continue providing exceptional care to those who need it most.”
Donna Samples, chair of BMRHC’s board of directors, spoke to the staff and thanked them for all their dedication to their communities and efforts to care for people in need.
Since its inception, BMRHC has expanded its services to include primary care, dental care, behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, and other specialized services such as HIV and Hepatitis C treatment. The center has also been at the forefront of community health initiatives, including vaccination drives, health education programs, transportation services, chronic care management, and efforts to address social determinants of health. With multiple locations across Northwest and North Central Arkansas, BMRHC serves thousands of patients annually, many of whom would otherwise face significant barriers to accessing healthcare. Last year, BMRHC served 27,614 patients and remains in the top 10 of the nation in quality of care.
Looking ahead, BMRHC plans to continue expanding and introducing new services to meet the community’s evolving needs. With ongoing initiatives to integrate technology into patient care and expand telehealth services, the center is poised to further enhance its reach and impact.
