BorkowskiBerryville Mayor Tim McKinney announced that Julia Borkowski has been hired by the city in the role of Public Programs and Community Engagement. This newly created position will include activities in community development, grant writing, outreach programs, special projects and social media.
“Julia will be a great addition to our city staff,” McKinney said. “Julia will work with my office and assist economic development director Dean Lee when needed. Julia will fill a lot of gaps that need to be coordinated between departments within the city to keep our mission to make Berryville a great place to live, work and do business.”
Borkowski began her journey in Berryville with her business, Berryville Onstage, and has quickly become a passionate advocate in fostering a strong, engaged community. She serves as the executive director of the Berryville Film Festival, a project aimed at bringing filmmakers and audiences together while driving tourism and economic growth in Berryville. She also organized the Christmas on the Square event and recently created Berryville Second Saturday, a monthly event designed to bring people together through an event featuring local vendors, live entertainment and family-friendly activities.
Borkowski has made an instant impact since she arrived in Berryville in the Spring of 2022 and has displayed a strong willingness to work to create opportunities that enrich the city and its residents. She also actively serves on the boards of the Carroll County Historical Society and the Berryville Chamber of Commerce.
Borkowski indicated that she looks forward to her new role of working with various programs, projects and activities to engage and enrich the community.
“I am incredibly excited about this opportunity to work with the City of Berryville,” Borkowski said. “This role will allow me to better serve our community by fostering growth, creating new opportunities and supporting efforts that bring people together.”
Borkowski’s first official day of employment was Monday, March 10.
