Bobcats turn attention to Huntsville

Posted

The Berryville Bobcats lost at Gravette by a score of 56-0 on Friday, Oct. 13.

It was the fourth consecutive loss for the Bobcats, who won two of their three non conference games.

“I don’t think we’ve stepped up to the challenge live we’ve needed to,” said first-year Berryville coach Macklin Chermak. “But that’s part of the culture. That’s something we’re building. It wasn’t going to be completed in a year. The hard part is moving on from those four games and putting a product out there that’s going to allow us to compete for the next three weeks.”

Berryville (2-5, 0-4 4A-1)will host Huntsville on Friday at Bobcat Stadium. The Eagles are 0-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Huntsville’s opponents have averaged more than 51 points a game this fall — a number that has jumped to 57 points a game in conference play.

Still, Chermak is wary of Huntsville’s offense. The Eagles are coming off a 63-34 loss to Lincoln.

“They’ve got a good quarterback, though,” Chermak said. “They can throw the ball. They can stretch the field. They’ve got a good running back that runs it hard. They get in some heavy sets and pound it. If you can’t stop it, they’re going to keep doing it. Their offensive scheme’s really good. You can tell they’re still getting after it. They’re not quitting. So it’s going to be a real tough game and we’ve got to step up and get it done defensively.”

Kickoff time is 7 p.m.
