Bobcats lose two in conference play

The Berryville Bobcats lost a pair of 4A-1 conference games last week, losing 53-20 at Prairie Grove on Tuesday, Jan. 30, before falling to Pea Ridge 60-44 on Senior Night at Bobcat Arena on Friday, Feb. 2.

Berryville struggled offensively from the outset in the loss to Prairie Grove, which led 15-6 after one quarter and 22-12 at halftime.

Senior Dale Nagtalon led the Bobcats with 10 points and sophomore Peyton Smith added eight.

Against Pea Ridge, the Bobcats fell behind 35-16 at halftime before outscoring the Blackhawks 28-25 over the final two quarters.

Smith scored 18 points for Berryville, with Nagtalon adding 13.

Berryville will play at Gravette on Tuesday, Feb. 6, before finishing the regular season against Shiloh Christian in Springdale on Friday, Feb. 9.

The district tournament begins Monday, Feb. 12, at Gravette.

GIRLS Prairie Grove 52, Berryville 27

Prairie Grove outscored Berryville 14-2 in the second quarter to turn a four-point lead into a 16-point at halftime and went on to beat the Lady Bobcats on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Prairie Grove.

Sophomore Kaylyn Smith led Berryville with 11 points while classmate Hailey Howerton added nine.

Pea Ridge 48, Berryville 40

Pea Ridge held off Berryville in a hard-fought game that was tied at halftime and at the end of the third quarter at Bobcat Arena.

Pea Ridge outscored Berryville 16-8 in the fourth quarter to claim the victory.

Kaylyn Smith led a balanced offensive attack for Berryville with 12 points. Kynadee Hopper and Hailey Howerton added six points apiece and Taelor Tomlinson and Paige Thurman each scored five.
