The Berryville Bobcats opened their 2026 baseball season with a victory on Monday, March 2, scoring five runs in the final two innings for a 9-4 victory at Yellville- Summit.

The Bobcats led 4-3 after five innings, but gave themselves some breathing room with two runs in the top of the sixth. Bryce Smith drew a leadoff walk, moved to third on a double by Cason Willing and scored on a groundout. Willing advanced to third on the play and then stole home with two out.

Willing then stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Caden O’Gorek. The Bobcats eventually loaded the bases with two out, and Kohen Talley’s walk scored CT Hicks for a 9-4 lead.

Staked to the five-run cushion, Hicks took the mound for the bottom of the seventh and promptly struck out the first three Yellville- Summit batters he faced, the first two on called third strikes before the final Panther batter went down swinging.

Willing had two of Berryville’s six hits, both doubles. He scored three runs and drove in one. O’Gorek had two RBI for the Bobcats.

Smith was the starting pitcher for Berryville, striking out five batters while allowing three runs through four innings. Jordy Casey pitched two innings, giving up one run while striking out two batters before Hicks worked a perfect seventh.
