The Berryville Bobcats checked off a few boxes with their 31-15 victory at Lincoln on Friday, Oct. 31.
The win snapped a fivegame losing streak for the Bobcats this season after Berryville started 3-0. It also broke an 11-game conference losing streak dating back to 2024. And it gave the Bobcats four wins in a single season for just the third time in the past 20 years — equaling Berryville’s win totals in 2006 and 2018.
“We needed it,” said Berryville coach Macklin Chermak. “We were almost down 14-0 but the defense came up with a big stand and we got the ball back and then we got rolling after that.”
Junior quarterback CT Hicks threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third and junior running back Jason Alvarado ran for 157 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries to lead the Berryville offense.
“We’ve not run the ball well in a while,” Chermak said. “So getting that going again was really, really good for us. We hope we can keep that going.”
Hicks’ TD passes covered 15 yards to junior Andre Esparza and 50 yards to Conard. The Berryville quarterback also ran for a 4-yard touchdown on a fourth-down play. Alvarado put the Bobcats ahead for good with a 13yard TD run with 50 seconds remaining in the first half.
Defensively, junior Josh Arechiga led Berryville with 13.5 tackles, including two sacks. Butler and senior defensive end Zydon Ballard each had two sacks and sophomore Caden O’Gorek had an interception for the Bobcats.
Berryville will travel to Green Forest on Friday, Nov. 7, to close out the season in the annual Carroll County Super Bowl.
