District Mission: Ensuring high levels of learning for everyone, every day!
Berryville School patrons, we have some exciting celebrations to share with you this summer!
The teachers and leaders in Berryville Schools have been working diligently the last three years to implement Professional Learning Communities (PLC). There are three main focal points of PLC including a focus on learning, building a collaborative culture (staff working together in teams), and results-oriented (analyzing data). We have established a system where teachers and administrators have time to meet weekly to discuss student progress and plan additional support for students who need help. Our focus has been and will continue to be on student growth because all kids should be learning and moving forward each year, regardless of where they begin.
Last week, the OUR Education Cooperative shared the reading and math assessment results of all K-2 elementary schools (22 total) in the area, and Berryville Elementary School showed impressive results!
The kindergarten team was third in reading growth on mid-year

and endofyear reports, only behind Marshall and Flippin. Teacher Carmen Hall had 100 percent of her students on or above grade level when they left kindergarten in May! Kindergarten also finished second in math on both data reports.
First-grade students had the third-highest reading growth mid-year and were second at the end of the year, scoring 70 percent overall. Math scores indicated that first-graders were third on the mid-year test, but finished No. 1 at the end of the year with a 113 percent growth score.
Reading scores for the Berryville second-grade team showed second place, only a few steps behind Yellville, on midyear data; however, the group finished the year in the top spot at No. 1 for student growth. Second-graders also hit the top in math by having the highest growth score out of the 22 schools. We want to congratulate all K-2 teachers, staff, and Principal Christy Graham for focusing on doing the right work for kids!
Last month, we honored eight teachers during the board meeting for receiving merit pay from the state based on three-year growth data trends. Mary McCullough (high school science), Kim Ferguson (high school math), Kayla Sargent (middle school science), Lisa Youngblood (middle school science), Amber Kidwell (intermediate), Michelle Hargis (intermediate), Kelly Goodpastor (high school science) and Teresa Harrison (high school English) were all recognized. These teachers were among the top 25 percent of all teachers in Arkansas. Only 226 science teachers received this award and 746 English and math teachers received it. We are so proud of this group for such an outstanding achievement! (Elementary teachers are not eligible for merit pay at this time, per state regulations.)
Keep an eye on our social media outlets as we introduce our new staff members this month and help us welcome our new folks. Also, if your child (grades K-6) is planning to attend Bobcat Academy next school year, be watching for information regarding registration to be released soon.
Have a fun and safe 4th of July!
