The Berryville Bobcat Marching Band has ended this marching season with great memories and some hardware to reward the hard work of all involved.

The band started the season by attending the Carroll County “Battle of the Bands,” where they earned the outstanding band award.

Next, they attended the Dale Bumpers invitational marching competition, where they earned Superior ratings for color guard and drum major and Excellent ratings for overall band and percussion. They also earned the overall Color Guard and General Effect awards.

Then the band traveled to Waldron for the Bulldog Invitational and earned Superior ratings in color guard, drum major and percussion and an Excellent rating for the overall band.

In late October they competed in the Bobcat Invitational and earned their first superior rating for the band.

The band traveled to Rogers and competed in the ASBOA Region 6 assessment earning a superior rating and punching their ticket to the State Marching contest in Little Rock.

To cap the season, the band traveled to War Memorial Stadium to participate in the ASBOA State Marching contest and earned sixth place out of 19 bands in Class 4A.

“What a tremendous year we’ve had of great performances and making some wonderful memories,” said band director Doug Blevins.

The band performed an original show titled “Unbound,” that was a musical depiction of tight-bound harmonies beginning with classical music and ending with loose harmonies of popular music and the tune “Chandelier.” The show featured several color guard members on aerial silks and was capped off with senior Kelci Blevins, color guard captain, on the silks.

“Audiences and judges alike were excited by the kids on the silks and I think that really gave us an advantage in competition this year” said band director Tonya Blevins. “We are so proud of these kids and their hard work. Now on to concert season!”
