Forty-seven Berryville Middle School Future Business Leaders of America members attended the District I Spring Leadership Conference held Feb. 4 in Fort Smith, where students expanded their leadership skills, explored business career pathways, and competed in a variety of academic and presentation events.
Students earning top placements qualified to advance to the FBLA State Leadership Conference.
In objective testing events, the top five finishers advance to state competition. Berryville Middle School students earning honors included: • Digital Citizenship: Mia Matt, second place.
• Exploring Accounting and Finance: Addison Boothe, fourth place.
• Exploring Business Concepts: Emily Asbury, second place.
• Exploring Business Ethics: Luke Fowler, Braxton Jarrett and Oden O’Gorek, second place (team event).
• Exploring Economics: Bear Cackler, second place.
• Exploring Marketing Concepts: Mary Griesenauer, first place; Liberty Johnson, fourth place; Sophia Torres, fifth place.
• Exploring Professionalism: Kendra Matlock, third place.
• Exploring Technology: Triston Marr, fifth place.
In presentation events, the top three finishers advance to state competition. Berryville Middle School students recognized included:
• Exploring Public Speaking: Alara Parker, third place.
• Exploring Management and Entrepreneurship: Carson Parker, Blake Dombek M., and Jo Jo Magnini, second place (team event).
Thirty-seven students will compete at the FBLA State Leadership Conference in Little Rock on April 9 for a chance to advance to Nationals in San Antonio.
