Black Hills Energy offers winter savings tips

Posted

As Arkansans are transitioning to the winter season, Black Hills Energy is sharing tips and resources to save on energy costs, along with assistance programs to support customers in the new year.

Energy savings tips

• While at home and awake, set the thermostat to 68 degrees on cold days.

• Reduce energy waste by using weather stripping and caulking around doors and windows to seal holes or gaps, as well as tightly close the fireplace damper when not in use.

• Turn down the hot water heater to 120 degrees and ensure it is insulated properly.

• Run full loads of laundry and dishes and limit in extreme temperatures. Skip the dishwasher drying cycle; instead, prop the door open once dishes are washed to air dry.

• Take advantage of rebates to help offset the cost of a smart thermostat, more-efficient furnace or a tankless water heater.
