Billy Jean Hughes of Berryville, Arkansas was born on July 19, 1940, in Paris, Texas to Archie and Jessie Hughes. Billy passed away on October 19th, 2022, in Berryville, Arkansas at the age of 82.
Billy had a long career in oil exploration and production at Shell Oil Co., which took him all over the world from stateside in Louisiana, Texas and Montana as well as extensive international work in Syria and the Middle East. Billy retired from Shell Oil Co. to Berryville and built his retirement home in 1992 where he would enjoy his golden years. Billy was a lifelong lover of hunting, _shing, and the outdoors. As well, he loved visiting Silver Dollar City with wife Mary over the past 30 years.
He is survived by three children, Pam Hughes, Rick Hughes and his wife Jane and Phil Hughes and his wife Karen, as well as seven grandchildren; _ve great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Hughes and his wife Evelyn; sister, Carolyn Vanderberg and husband Sydney; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
On June 15, 1960, Billy was united in marriage to Mary Wyatt who preceded him in death earlier this year. Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Jessie Hughes; wife, Mary Hughes; sister, Lolita Pierce and daughter, Tina McGlaughlin.
Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the 1908 Gathering Place, 108 South Spring_eld Street, Berryville.
