Betty Squires was born December 19, 1930, in Dry Fork, AR to Tom and Esther (Sugg) Howard. She died September 6, 1922, in her home at Golden, MO with her husband by her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Esther Howard and brother Charles.
She is survived by her husband Lyman Gray Squires Jr., son Gray Squires and his wife Dawn, daughter Beth Squires, grandson Tyler Squires, his wife Emily and their daughter Elsie and grandson Troy Squires. She is also survived by her sister Maribel and husband Bill Nelson of Springfield, MO and a host of relatives and friends. She and Lyman were married September 30, 1950.
Betty was a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul. She had a deep faith which showed in every aspect of her life. After working to put Lyman through college she was a stay-at-home mom and then a partner in the Squires optometry practice and traveled on mission trips bringing eyecare to the disadvantaged. She loved flea markets, antique dishes and made the best pies in the world. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She brought a special light into the world. Betty was a member of the First Christian Church in Eureka Springs and Gideon’s auxiliary.A private family burial was held September 9, 2022, at the Berryville Memorial Park Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Gideons International, PO Box 362, Berryville AR 72616.
