Berryville tops West Fork as O’Gorek drives in 4

Senior Ava O’Gorek drove in four runs Saturday as the Berryville Lady Bobcats beat West Fork 10-1 in tournament play at Greenland.

O’Gorek had three of Berryville’s nine hits, including a double and a triple.

Berryville took control by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Emma Hall led off by reaching on an error, moved to second on a groundout and advanced to third on another West Fork error. Hall scored and Bailey Skelton advanced to second base when West Fork misplayed a popup by Kynadee Hopper. Elizabeth Heithold followed with a fly ball, again misplayed by West Fork to leave the bases loaded. Emma Taylor’s double to center field scored Skelton and Hopper and moved Heithold to third base before O’Gorek followed with a two-run double to extend the Lady Bobcats’ lead to 8-1. O’Gorek moved to third on a groundout and scored on a single by Codi Joubert before Hall drove Joubert home with a double to center.

Skelton earned the pitching victory, striking out five West Fork batters in as many innings.

Berryville was scheduled to host Huntsville on Tuesday before traveling to West Fork on Thursday and Gentry on Friday.
