Posted

Students who are Hispanic or Latino made up nearly 30 percent of the population in the Berryville School District last school year, according to numbers recently released by the district.

In its annual “Report to the Public” presented Monday, Nov. 17, the district announced that 29 percent of students from the 2024-2025 school year were Hispanic or Latino.

White students make up the majority of the enrollment at 58.3 percent, according to the numbers.

The next highest number of students were Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, with Asian and those students who are two or more races rounding out the population.

There were no students in the other race/ethnicities listed in the graph submitted by the district — black/ African American and American Indian/Alaska Native — according to the report.

The report said that of the 1,704 students enrolled in the district, 551 are high school students, 412 are at the intermediate campus, 407 at the middle school and 334 are elementary students. In addition, the district has 45 students enrolled in Pre-K.

On the personnel report, the district reported 278 total employees, including eight administrators, 149 teachers and 129 classified staff.

In the “Staff and Student Data” report, the district reported a 12:1 average student to teacher ratio and an average class size of 14 students.

There was a teacher retention rate of 78 percent and an average year of nine years’ experience for instructors.
