Posted

A 23-year-old Berryville man was killed Sunday, Aug. 3, when the motorcycle he was riding struck a pickup on Arkansas Highway 221 South in Berryville.

According to an Arkansas State Police report, Joseph Hankins was riding a 2025 Kawasaki ZX400 westbound behind a 1986 Chevrolet pickup at 5:34 p.m. As the pickup made a turn onto Carroll County Road 501, Hankins attempted to pass the pickup on the left, the report says. The motorcycle struck the truck and rolled multiple times and Hankins was ejected, according to the ASP report.

The driver of the Chevrolet was not identified in the report. The report indicates no one besides Hankins was injured.

The weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident, the ASP report says.

Hankins was the 296th person to die in a traffic accident in Arkansas in 2025.
