Lady Bobcats sweep 2 from Lady Tigers

The Berryville Lady Bobcats hold softball bragging rights in Carroll County.

The Lady Bobcats swept a home-and-home series from the Green Forest Lady Tigers last week, winning 21-14 on Monday, April 13, at Green Forest and 11-1 the following night in Berryville.

Berryville banged out 34 hits in the two-game sweep, including 20 in the first game.

Sage Griffen and Sophia Sharp had three hits and three RBI apiece that night, while Cora Matteson and Ryleigh Walker each scored four runs for the Lady Bobcats. Walker had two of Berryville’s five extra-base hits, with a double and a triple.

Berryville led 14-0 after scoring six runs in the top of the fourth inning, but Green Forest rallied with four runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and eight in the sixth to pull within one at 15-14 before the Lady Bobcats put the game away with six runs in the top of the seventh.

Bella Phillips had five hits for Green Forest, while Tynslie Castillo, Allie Tipton and Emma Watson added three hits apiece. Watson and Emerson DeMeyer each drove in three runs for the Lady Tigers, while Castillo scored three times.

In the second game, played in Berryville, the Lady Bobcats cruised to a 10-run victory in five innings as Matteson held Green Forest to one run on four hits while striking out three.

Lexy Pittman powered the Berryville offense, collecting four hits while driving in three runs and scoring twice. Walker also had three RBI for the Lady Bobcats, while Matteson scored three times.

Berryville scored four runs in the bottom of the first and added five more in the second to take control early.

Grace Smith drove in Castillo in the top of the second for Green Forest’s only run.
