The first annual Berryville Film Festival is only a few days away. The festival will be screening 38 movies from seven states, with a handful of movies showcasing local talent from Berryville and some movies that were filmed in this town.
“I wanted to bring something different and unique to the town for filmmakers, families, and business owners,” said Julia Borkowski, a Berryville resident who created the festival. “My goal is to bring filmmakers to the town so they can scout future filming locations, in the long run bringing in more income for our town. The festival will also offer various activities for families in our community.”
The festival will be hosted at the Berryville Community Center and on the Berryville Public Square. The community center will screen all 38 movies in its banquet hall and six workshops in its meeting room. The public square is where you can find vendors, food, a family comedy show and a free family movie night.
“We will have filmmakers from all over the state and a lot from out of state attending this event and staying in town for the twoday event,” Borkowski said. “This festival is a networking opportunity for aspiring and experienced filmmakers, actors, and just movie lovers. Filmmakers and community members can come together for two days of screenings, workshops, vendors, a comedy show, and on Saturday night experience a red carpet award ceremony where we will present 10 awards. Mayor McKinney will be presenting the Best Feature Film Award.”
Passes are still for sale and can be found on the film festival’s website, Berryville-FilmFest.com. Day passes are $15 and weekend passes are $25. Passes include all workshops, screenings and the awards ceremony. More information can be found on oFacebook.
