The Berryville City Council voted unanimously to approve step raises for several city employees at its regular meeting on Wednesday, July 5.
After council members and Mayor Tim McKinney met in executive session, the council returned to open session and council member Linda Riddlesperger made a motion to approve the step raises as recommended. Council member Max Nichols seconded the motion and it was approved by all council members.
A total of 25 city employees will receive pay increases as a result of the council’s action.
One employee, city building and facilities manager Chris Bouly, will receive a two-step increase because of his outstanding employee evaluation and proven value to the city with various building projects.
One employee was not given a step raise because of an unsatisfactory employee evaluation. Another employee, whose hire date was at the end of the month, had a less-than-satisfactory employee evaluation and will be given a six-month probationary period before a step raise will be reviewed again.
Finally, Scott Scrivner, who was at the top step of his respective pay scale, was given a raise to the newly created parks maintenance staff supervisor pay scale at Step 7, constituting a pay increase of $1 per hour.
