The future looks bright for Berryville’s boys basketball program.

Berryville earned a pair of conference championships last week, as both the seventh- grade boys and the junior high varsity boys finished at the top of their leagues.

The seventh-grade Bobcats defeated Gravette 48-24 on Thursday, Feb. 1, to finish their season with a record of 17-1 overall and 8-0 in conference play.

Their only loss came by two points in a nonconference game against Springdale Sonora.

Carson Compton led the way in the victory over Gravette, making four three-pointers and scoring a gamehigh 20 points for Berryville.

Braydon Bancroft added 16 points for Berryville, which led 26-13 at halftime.

Later that night, the Junior Bobcats beat Gravette 46-32 to clinch a share of the 4A-1 conference championship.

CT Hicks scored 17 points for Berryville in the win over Gravette, with John Butler and Hudson Norris adding 10 points apiece.

Not satisfied with just a share of the championship, Berryville defeated Prairie Grove 42-38 in overtime on Saturday, Feb. 2, to clinch its first outright league title since 2020. The win improved the Junior Bobcats’ record to 22-4 overall and 11-1 in conference play.

Butler led Berryville with 11 points while Hicks added 10.

Berryville gets a bye in the first round of the junior high district tournament at Gentry. The Bobcats are scheduled to play a semifinal game at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Shiloh Christian and Huntsville.
