Recently, auditions were held for the All-Region Band, and Berryville was once again well represented. Students in grades 7-9 auditioned in Harrison in December and students grades 10-12 auditioned in Rogers right after the Christmas break. Sixteen students from the Berryville band program were selected to perform in the honor bands. Students attended rehearsals at Bentonville West High School then performed a concert the next day.
“The concerts were amazing!” said band director Tonya Blevins.
Berryville had the distinct honor of having three juniors earn the top spot in their respective sections. Israel Merida-Noriega, Maynor Valiente Cruz and Karson Casey all earned first band, first chair in a very competitive audition. Berryville had seven students qualify to attend the All-State tryouts in Conway: Israel Merida- Noriega (flute), Molly Staats (oboe), Karson Casey (bassoon), Keily Diaz (clarinet), Zoey Garrett (bass clarinet), Maynor Valiente Cruz (French horn) and Andrew Griesenauer (tuba).
