Berryville athletes win 4 events at junior high district meet

Berryville freshman Kai Killingsworth won two events and classmates Kinly Smith and CT Hicks each brought home one first-place finish at the 4A-1 junior high district track and field championships on Tuesday, April 16 at Gravette High School.

Killingsworth won the girls 800- and 1,600-meter runs, while Smith took first place in the girls shot put and Hicks won the boys 800-meter run.

Berryville’s Laykin Talley was second in the girls long jump and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles, while teammate Mikayla Killingsworth was second in the girls pole vault and took fourth place in the 400-meter dash and the triple jump. She finished seventh in the 800-meter run.

Smith took third place in the discus and Kelly Diaz finished third in the 100-meter hurdles.

Dalielah Kesler, a seventh- grader for the Lady Bobcats, was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles and took seventh place in the pole vault. Eighth-grader Bella Biggerstaff was fifth in the discus and seventh in the shot put.

Freshman Alexis Pittman was sixth in the 100-meter dash and seventh in the 200.

Berryville finished third in the girls 4X400 relay and fourth in the 4X800.

On the boys side, John Butler finished second in the triple jump, third in the high jump and fourth in the 100-meter dash. Classmate Hudson Norris finished third in the 300-meter hurdles and Carson McMellon took third in the 1,600-meter run. Hunter Knue finished fifth in the 200-meter dash.

In addition to winning the 800, Hicks took fourth place in the high jump and finished fifth in the 400-meter dash. Jesse Culling was sixth in the discus.

Berryville took second place in the 4X800 relay, was third in both the 4X200 and 4X400 and finished fifth in the 4X100.

Berryville finished fourth in both the boys and girls team standings.
