April is Child Abuse Awareness Month

Posted

Grandma’s House invites everyone to join their team in observing April as Child Abuse Awareness Month.

Since the early 1980s, April has been a month filled with extra prevention education, awareness activities and more for Children’s Advocacy Centers across the nation.

This year you will see blue and silver pinwheels on the Harrison Square and in front of all three primary Grandma’s House locations in Harrison, Mountain Home and Berryville representing children who have walked through the centers’ doors and into a world of hope and healing. To top it all off, Tuesday, April 11, is being declared CAC Day for the first time in state history.

The work Grandma’s House and all other CACs do is crucial to the mission of ending child abuse and we know we would not be as successful without the support of our community behind us. To donate or for more information about Grandma’s House CAC, call 870-517-1681 or take a look at the Grandma’s House website at www. grandmashousecac.com. You can also visit the Facebook page (@GHCAC) for more information.

Other events scheduled in April include “Say Peace Out to Child Abuse” and wear tie-dye and 1970s clothing on Tuesday, April 11, “Wake up to Child Abuse Awareness” and wear pajamas on Friday, April 14, “It Shouldn’t Hurt to be a Child” and dress up as your favorite Disney character on Friday, April 21 and “Team up against Child Abuse” and wear your favorite sports jersey on Friday, April 28.
