Answering the Call has delivered meals since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Originally designed to provide ready-to-heat meals for those with COVID-19 or in quarantine, the program expanded to meet the needs of the food-insecure in Carroll County.
It is estimated that one out of eight people in the county is food-insecure, including one out of six children.
Coordinated through the Eureka Springs United Methodist Church, the Carroll County Answering the Call 501(c) (3) non profit status is pending IRS approval. Donations are tax-deductible through ESUMC.
Approximately 100 meals per week are delivered at a cost of $1,900 weekly. The program is entirely volunteer-based. Meals and fresh produce are purchased at a discount. Funding has come through grants and community giving.
Now Carroll County Answering the Call is in a funding crisis. If the critical funding is not obtained immediately, the needs of the food-insecure will not be met. There are several ways to donate to this essential program. Mail a check to Carroll County Answering the Call (or CCATC) care of ESUMC, 195 Huntsville Road, Eureka Springs, AR 72632. Online donations can be made through https://givebutter. com/FFF0123. Or go to the Answering the Call page on Facebook and scan the QR code. Or text Fund4Food to 53555. Donations are tax-deductible. Whether it is $10 or $1000, each donation is important and will be used exclusively to provide meals for Carroll County residents in need.
