All-Region Band

Berryville is once again well represented in the All-Region Band, with 13 students from Berryville band program earning All-Region honors.

Students in grades 7-9 auditioned in Harrison in December and students in grades 10-12 auditioned in Rogers right after the Christmas break. Students attended rehearsals at Bentonville High School on Friday then performed a concert Saturday afternoon.

“It’s amazing what these musicians can do in just a few hours of preparation. We are very proud of these students for achieving this honor,” said Berryville band director Doug Blevins.

Berryville had the distinct honor of having two sophomores earn the top spot in their section. Israel Merida-Noriega and Karson Casey both earned first band, first chair in a very competitive audition.

Berryville had six students qualify to attend the All-State tryouts in Joneboro. Israel Merida- Noriega (flute), Karson Casey (bassoon), Maynor Valiente Cruz (French horn) and Andrew Griesenauer (tuba) are guaranteed spots in the tryout. Garrett Tibbets (trombone) and Keily Diaz (clarinet) are alternates to try out.

“It has been several years since Berryville band has had All-State qualifiers. We are very excited for these students,” said band director Tonya Blevins.

Students will try out Saturday Feb 8, at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. If students are selected, they will attend the four-day All-State Music Conference in Hot Springs later in February.
