All-Conference Honors

Posted

The Green Forest Tigers won four football games for the first time in 10 years, capped by a win over Berryville in the annual Carroll County Super Bowl.

And now, the Tigers can celebrate some individual recognition.

A total of six Tigers were named firstand second-team all-conference selections in the 4A-1 and four more made the conference’s all-sophomore team.

The Tigers’ first-team selections were senior Carlos Lemus and juniors Brityn Gilliam and Ridge Gordon-Swofford. Gordon-Swofford also was named an honorable mention all-state selection.

Seniors Victor Cervantes and Fernando Gonzales and junior Boris Tobar were second-team all-conference picks, while four Tigers were named to the all-sophomore team — Colton Fancher, Jaden Kaler, Aksel Ochoa and Gabe Serna.

“They were excited,” Green Forest coach Greg Tibbitt said of the players’ reaction to being honored. “We’ve had a lot of people call and talk to them and things like that.”

The Tigers had just five seniors in 2023.

“They were very important to us, but we had a lot of sophomores and then two guys made all-conference as juniors,” Tibbitt said.
