District Mission: Ensuring high levels of learning for everyone,

every day!

I can’t believe that we are in week five of the 2023-2024 school year!

We want to remind students and parents that our schools offer many activities, sports, clubs and organizations for students and strongly encourage each one to get connected in something extracurricular.

On Friday, Sept. 15, the high school is sponsoring the Club Fair. Students can earn community service hours by participating in any club and being able to demonstrate community involvement is required on most scholarships and helps build a strong workforce resume as well.

The high school has also added an Aviation Program for students interested in becoming a pilot someday. The teacher preparation program has also been expanded this year by adding two more courses for students wishing to become teachers someday.

Have you heard any of the middle school students talking about the new “house system?”

This year students and teachers (yes, teachers too!) have been placed on one of four “house teams.” The teams are participating in competitions based on attendance, discipline, grades, etc. Students and staff are very excited about the competitions and are looking forward to celebrating the winners periodically throughout this year.

Friday, Sept. 15, is “Lunch With a Loved One” day at Berryville Intermediate and “Breakfast With a Loved One” at Berryville Elementary School. Breakfast will be from 7:40 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and lunch will be during regular grade level serving times. Contact the school offices if more information is needed. We are excited to welcome our students’ special guests to our schools on Friday!

Shout Out to Gerry Stuppy for spearheading the reorganization of the K-5 Parent-Teache r-Student A s s o ci a t ion (PTSA). The organization has been inactive for a few years and we certainly appreciate Mrs. Stuppy and the other parent volunteers who are working to revitalize this important organization that supports our students and schools..

Thank you!

REMINDERS

The deadline to submit lunch forms is Sept. 22. Online forms can be found on our website or paper copies are available at the schools. Families who submit an application by Sept. 15 will be entered into a $100 drawing.

Attendance is important! Families, each of our schools are offering incentives for attendance this year. Students cannot learn if they are not at school.

We understand that at times students become sick, have appointments, or unplanned emergencies occur; however, chronic unexcused absences interfere with a child’s education. Our mission is to ensure high levels of learning for every student so please partner with us to make school attendance a priority this year.

Thank you for your continued support of the Berryville School District!
