4-H offers a wide variety of hands-on, learn-by-doing opportunities for everyone. Youth can concentrate on one area or they can try an assortment of programs throughout their 4-H experience. Based on their interests and guided by adult mentors, youth develop their own pathway in 4-H with the ultimate goal of learning life skills.
4-H is conducted in many forms including community clubs, special interest projects, in-school clubs, on military installations and more, so you can be a part of 4-H wherever you live. Youth between the ages of 5 and 19 are invited to join the 133,000 young people involved in the Arkansas 4-H program.
The mission of 4-H is to provide opportunities for youth to acquire knowledge, develop life skills, form attitudes and practice behavior that will enable them to become self-directing productive and contributing members of society.
Carroll County has four community clubs and two project clubs. Those clubs are Farewell, Osage, Grandview, North Polo, Beef Club and Hickory Swine Club. All of the local clubs focus on developing life skills that each member can take with them their whole life. The 4-H motto is something we live by here in Carroll County: “ To make the best better.” Each of our 4-H members are great kids and young adults but we want to make them even better than they were the day before!
Carroll County 4-H will be hosting a Fall Festival from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at the Carroll County Fairgrounds. We encourage everyone in the community to stop by and hang out with us for the evening! We will be having different games, contest and a hay ride (depending on weather!) We will be having a costume contest and a Jack-O-Lantern contest as well! The Jack-O-Lantern contest will begin around 6 p.m. You can bring a painted pumpkin or a carved one! The costume contest will begin around 7 p.m. Come on out and enjoy the fun!
The entry fee is one non-perishable food item or a roll of toilet paper.
We encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and join in on everything we have to offer! If you would like to join 4-H please give the Carroll County Extension Office a call at 870-423.2958.
