Green Forest senior takes third in 3,200 at 3A state meet

Green Forest senior Paco Rangel took third place in the 3,200-meter run at the Class 3A state track and field championships on Tuesday, May 3, in Lincoln.

Rangel finished with a time of 10:46.42. His younger brother Alonzo Rangel, a junior, took fifth place with a time of 10:51.67.

Tigers freshman Arauny Reyes finished sixth in the 1,600-meter run (4:46.63) while Paco Rangel (4:52.19) was ninth.

Alonzo Rangel finished 14th in the 800-meter run (2:18.70). Junior Jason Lopez finished 15th in the shot put (36-9.5) and 17th in the discus (103-0).

Reyes was 18th in the 400-meter dash (1:02.62).

The Tigers took eighth place in the 4X800-meter relay (9:21.45).

Freshman Lydia Russell was the only Green Forest athlete to compete in the girls division. She finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (17.16), fifth in the 100-meter dash (13.51), ninth in the 200-meter dash (28.96) and 12th in the long jump (13-11.25) and triple jump (29-10.5).

Berryville senior William Redd finished eighth in the shot put at the Class 4A state track and field championships on Tuesday, May 3, in Harrison with a throw of 43 feet, 2.75 inches.

Eureka Springs’ Mackenzie Loudermilk finished 13th in the 300-meter hurdles at the Class 2A state track and field championships on Tuesday, May 3, at Quitman.

Loudermilk finished with a time of 57.59 seconds.
