Two more shutouts extend streak to 12 for Tigers
It was business as usual last week for the Green Forest Tigers.
The Tigers picked up a pair of shutout victories, defeating Eureka Springs 5-0 on the road on Tuesday, April 26, before blanking Life Way Christian 8-0 at home two days later.
Green Forest (15-2) has won 12 consecutive games since a 1-0 loss at Berryville on March 14 — a streak that includes six shutouts and a combined scoring margin of 97-9.
The Tigers shared the wealth offensively in last week’s wins, with a total of eight players scoring at least one goal.
Tony Gonzalez and Elvin Montoya each had three goals, with Gonzalez scoring twice against Eureka Springs and Montoya twice against Life Way. Jesus Romero scored once in each game.
Against Eureka Springs, the Tigers also got single goals from Montoya and Izaak Merida. Gonzalez, Navor Perez, Pablo Leon, Gabriel Holland and Yeremi Zuniga had one goal apiece against Life Way.
Green Forest will host Thaden on Tuesday and Eureka Springs on Thursday to finish the regular season.
