Track: Redd wins district crown
Berryville senior William Redd won the shot put competition at the 4A-1 conference track and field championships on Tuesday, April 26, in Harrison.
Redd’s throw of 44 feet, 2.75 inches was more than a foot longer than his 43-foot throw just a week earlier at the same venue.
Other top-10 performances for the Bobcats included freshman Malachi Haughton taking sixth place in the 800-meter run (2:21.60), seventh at 1,600 meters (5:05.30) and eighth at 3,200 meters (11:33.00); and senior Jake Lopez finishing seventh in the 100-meter hurdles (18.52) and ninth in the 300-meter hurdles (48.00).
On the girls side, Berryville junior Giselle Estrada finished fourth in the long jump (15-2) and eighth in the 100-meter dash (13.50) and the 400-meter dash (1:08.00). Freshman Kynadee Hopper was fifth in the long jump (14-10). Junior Tatiana Emerson finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles and freshman Bella Knapp took eighth place in the 1,600-meter run (6:32.00).
The Class 4A state championships will be held Tuesday, May 3, also in Harrison.
