The Berryville Lady Bobcats made one late three-pointer to extend last Tuesday’s game against Shiloh Christian. Unfortunately for the Lady Bobcats, they couldn’t make another one.

A long three-point attempt by the Lady Bobcats fell short just before the final buzzer and the Lady Saints escaped with a 42-39 overtime victory at Bobcat Arena.

“We fought back and did what we were supposed to do,” Berryville coach Daniel Cornelison said. “I just wish we had scored four more points in overtime.”

Berryville forced overtime by erasing a six-point deficit over the final 4:52 of the fourth quarter.

With Shiloh Christian leading 32-26, Berryville freshman Taelor Tomlinson scored a layup off a fast-break pass from senior Anni Armer at the 4:00 mark. Tomlinson then dropped in a three-pointer from the right wing with 3:27 remaining to pull the Lady Bobcats within one at 32-31.

“We got a couple of big stops and hit a couple of big shots down the stretch,” Cornelison said.

Shiloh Christian answered with a basket to extend its lead to 34-31 with 56.4 seconds remaining. The Lady Bobcats missed a three-pointer with 35.6 seconds left, but got another opportunity when Shiloh Christian missed the front end of a one-and-one with 22.7 seconds remaining and Berryville junior Mia Thurman grabbed the rebound.

The Lady Bobcats worked the ball to Tomlinson, who found Armer open on the left baseline. Armer dropped in her third three-pointer of the game to tie the score at 34 with 12.4 seconds left.

“It was a real nice drive into the lane by Taelor and a kickout to Anni,” Cornelison said. “She’s a real good shooter and she hit a big shot in a big moment.”

Shiloh Christian missed a shot with 6.6 seconds left but Berryville couldn’t get a shot off at the buzzer.

The Lady Saints scored the first four points of overtime before Thurman converted a three-point play off a pass from senior Faith Kelley to pull the Lady Bobcats within one at 38-37 with 2:31 remaining.

After a Shiloh Christian basket, Berryville junior Hannah Youngblood made two free throws with 1:58 left. The Lady Saints turned the ball over on their next possession but Berryville missed a three-pointer at the 1:07 mark.

Two free throws by Shiloh Christian extended the Lady Saints’ lead to 42-39 with 33.7 seconds left.

With 12.2 seconds remaining, Berryville called timeout. After the timeout, the Lady Bobcats inbounded the ball from underneath their own basket but were forced to try a long three-pointer from 25 feet. The shot missed and time expired on the loose ball.

“We ran an inbounds play for three,” Cornelison said. “They got a hand on the inbounds pass and just kind of threw everything off rhythm and we just didn’t get the shot we wanted because of that.”

Kelley led Berryville with 11 points while Armer added 10 and Youngblood scored nine.

The Lady Bobcats will play at Huntsville on Tuesday before hosting Harrison on Friday at Bobcat Arena.
