James Frances Claypool

James Frances “Jim” Claypool of Green Forest, Ark. departed his earthly home Nov. 22, 2021. Jim was born Feb. 20, 1935 to Clifford and Thelma Claypool in Williamsburg, Iowa where he graduated in 1953 from high school.

He served 8 years in the Navy Reserve and lived 15 years in Tempe, Ariz. where he worked for U.D.A. and Air Research. In 1972 he moved to Berryville, Ark. where he worked 20 years for Butterbaugh Construction and 10 years for Carroll Electric after hours dispatch.

He served 20 years on the Berryville Fire Department, six years on the City Council and several terms as the Lions Club president. He enjoyed writing stories and poems.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and daughter, Sharon Vanhoose.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlene Butterbaugh Claypool; daughter, Shirley and Gary Messman, Towson, Md.; grandchildren, Laurie and Jeff Crawford of Austin, Tex., Mike and Kim Vanhoose of Ashville, N.C., Mitchell and Brittney Vanhoose of Nashville, Tenn.; many nieces and nephews, cousin and good friends.

Services will be held at a later date at the Berryville City Cemetary. Cremation is under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
