Lady Bobcats drop 2 conference matches
Rebuilding seasons have been a rarity for the Berryville volleyball program under longtime coach Kristin Whetham, but that’s exactly what this season has been.
The Lady Bobcats are taking their lumps now — dropping a pair of matches last week to Gravette and Shiloh Christian — but the future should be much brighter. Berryville is relying heavily on a sophomore class that has plenty of talent but is still gaining experience.
“I think if we had a veteran team this year, things might be different,” Whetham said Monday. “I think we’ll be better next year because I have a lot of sophomores that are getting a ton of reps in this year. So in the long run, it’s going to end up benefiting us.”
Berryville will travel to Farmington on Tuesday, then host Huntsville to close out the regular season Thursday. Whetham said the Lady Bobcats likely will play in the first round of the district tournament Monday on Shiloh Christian’s home floor in Springdale.
