County fair opens on Friday

The Carroll County Fair will begin Friday, Aug. 20, and continue through Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Carroll County Fairgrounds in Berryville.

The fair will begin with a rodeo at 7 p.m. Friday night. The annual fair parade will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the parade route beginning at Anstaff Bank and proceeding through the Berryville square. The parade will end at the Berryville Community Center. Local law enforcement officers will be honored as grand marshals for the parade.

Saturdayís events will include the horse show showmanship events at noon, with a tractor driving contest at 2 p.m. and a second night of rodeo action at 7 p.m.

Horse show speed events will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Family Fun Night will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23.

Events scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 24, include the dairy and meat goat show at 10 a.m., the pie judging contest at 10:30 a.m., the opening of Education Hall at 5 p.m. and the Little Mr. and Miss Pageant at 6:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Aug. 25, the sheep show will be held at 10 a.m. Commercial booths will open at 5 p.m., and the Junior Miss and Miss Carroll County Pageants will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 26, will be Senior Day, with free admission for those 65 and older. The hog show will begin at 9 a.m. and a high school band concert is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Events scheduled for Friday, Aug. 27, include the beef cattle show at 10 a.m., dairy cattle show at 1 p.m. and a rodeo at 7 p.m.

The fairís final day will be Saturday, Aug. 28. That dayís events include the premium livestock sale at 10 a.m., 4-H poultry chain auction at 1 p.m., livestock judging contest at 2 p.m. and a ranch rodeo at 7 p.m. Exhibits will be released at 9 p.m.

The carnival will be open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23 through Friday, Aug. 27.
