Clean Sweep: Berryville boys, girls win on home course
The Berryville High School golf team made it a clean sweep at its first home match of the season on Monday, Aug. 8, at the Carroll County Country Club.
Berryville won both the boys and girls divisions — the boys by one stroke and the girls by 19.
Led by a 36 from junior Nate Allen, the Berryville boys shot 120 to edge Farmington. The Berryville JV took third place at 152, with Prairie Grove finishing fourth at 154.
Allen edged Farmington’s Landon Lawson by one stroke for medalist honors.
Jack Dignan shot a 41 for the Berryville varsity, with Ashton Blok two shots back at 43 and D.J. Colbert at 44.
Titus Gregory led the Bobcats’ junior varsity with a 49, while Dylan Higgins shot 51 and Luke Dignan was at 52.
Two golfers competed for Green Forest. Alex Kilbourn shot 51 and Austin Howerton shot 61.
On the girls side, Emma Hall’s 48 earned medalist honors and topped a Berryville squad that finished at 160. Prairie Grove was second at 179.
Hall’s teammate Ava O’Gorek was two shots back at 50, followed by Alyssa Lee and Sadie Sharp, who each shot 62, and Jaiden Hood at 63.
Green Forest’s Leah Evans shot a 58, while teammate Lyndsey Snow was at 68.
Berryville’s golfers will play nine holes on Tuesday, Aug. 17, at The Creeks in Cave Springs.
